Inquiry reports

Scrutiny Committees sometimes look in detail at a topic and send a report to Cabinet, with recommendations for how to improve.

The Cabinet considers the report and responds to the recommendations.

  • Funding of Parks (April 2018)
  • Council Workshops and Innovation Premises (November 2018)
  • Events in Cardiff (February 2019)
  • Culture in Cardiff (February 2020)

Research reports

We undertake independent research to inform the Committees’ work, collecting evidence from stakeholders on their views and experiences. We also review existing research and good practice to highlight work Cardiff Council could learn from.

  • A survey report on the public’s perceptions of Cardiff Indoor Central Market and Historic Shopping Arcades, 2014
  • Experiences of Local Authorities in the Retention of Business Rates, 2017

Every year, scrutiny committees report on their work, highlighting contributions received and recommendations made.

Their reports highlight the impact of scrutiny and changes that were carried out.

For 2020 to 21, and for 2021 to 2022 the five scrutiny committees developed a combined Annual Report.
