Parking with a blue badge

On-street pay and display parking

Free parking for as long as necessary.

Council car parks

Free parking for as long as necessary in most Council car parks - please see the regulatory signs for instructions

Blue Badge holders’ only bays

Free parking for as long as necessary (except for Heath Park Car Park – please see the regulatory signs for instructions).

Resident bays

3 hours maximum during controlled hours with a blue badge and time clock displayed. Free parking outside of controlled hours. Note: some resident bays are controlled at all times.

Double yellow lines

3 hours maximum with a blue badge and time clock displayed unless a loading ban is in force. - Double yellow lines are controlled 24 hours a day, every day.

Single yellow lines

3 hours maximum during controlled hours with a blue badge and time clock displayed unless a loading ban is in force. Free parking outside of controlled hours.

Any restrictions not mentioned above may still have rules relating to the use of blue badges. You can refer to your blue badge booklet for further information or you can call Connect to Cardiff.


Please note that sometimes parking bays may not be available at certain locations due to road closures for special events and road works.


When using the parking benefits you must display your blue badge on top of the dashboard or facia panel of your vehicle so that the relevant details are legible from outside of the vehicle. Where parking is limited for blue badge holders the time clock must be displayed and set at the time of arrival as detailed in your blue badge booklet. If in doubt it is good practise to always display your time clock.


If you fail to display your badge and time clock correctly you may be issued with a parking ticket (Penalty Charge Notice).

 

On a pavement

If you park on a pavement causing an obstruction the Police may issue you with a Fixed Penalty Notice (FPN).

Adjacent to dropped footways

No parking at any time

Loading bays

No parking during controlled hours.

Taxi Ranks

No parking during controlled hours

Double yellow kerb blips

No parking at any time

Single yellow kerb blips

No parking during controlled hours

Suspended bays

No parking at any time

Parking bays for specific vehicles: e.g. bays for ambulances, police, motorcycles, goods vehicles, buses. No parking during controlled hours

Zig-Zags

No stopping for any reason. You could receive penalty points on your licence

Any restrictions not mentioned above may still have rules relating to the use of blue badges. The scheme may also not apply on private roads or in private car parks. It is always important that you check the parking regulations wherever you are.
