Current opportunities

Cardiff Council will invite tenders where the value of goods, services or works exceeds £25,000. Where the value exceeds £189,330 for goods and services, and £4,733,252 for works, the council will follow EU Public Procurement Directives.

All of the council’s tender opportunities can be found on our Procurement Portal. You will need to register in order to use the portal.

Tenders over the EU threshold will be found on OJEU (Official Journal of the European Union) and on Sell to Wales.

Contract and Framework Calendar

Cardiff Council maintains a contracts register (1.10mb PDF) provides a list of all the Council's current contracts and frameworks, including framework arrangements established by the National Procurement Service (NPS).

This list of contracts is aimed to provide transparency and an indication of when existing contracts may be up for renewal. This also informs current and prospective suppliers and contractors with an idea of the variety of goods, services and works that the council buys.

The information against each contract includes:

  • Contract Categories - When suppliers register on Proactis they can select categories relevant to the goods/services/works they supply in order to receive notifications of opportunities that arise.
  • Expiration Date - the date the contract or framework comes to end.
  • Extension - illustrates whether there is an opportunity to extend the current contract or framework. This will reflect what was written in to the terms upon contract creation.
  • Vendors - a list of the successful vendor(s) for each contract or framework. The council encourages suppliers, in particular Small Medium or Micro Enterprises and Third Sector organisations to contact successful vendors in order to find out about potential subcontracting / second or third tier opportunities that they may have.

This list is to demonstrate the council's current contracts and frameworks. This does not provide a like-for-like guarantee that the same goods, services or works will be tendered again upon contract expiry.

If similar contracts are to be tendered in future the opportunities are likely to be advertised between 12 and 6 months prior to the expiry date.

We advise prospective suppliers to contact the council up to 6 months in advance of the contract end date if they are interested in finding out about similar opportunities that may be available in future. This calendar aims to help suppliers plan ahead so they do not miss out on new opportunities.
