Park and ride

Cardiff has 3 Park an​​​​​​​d Ride sites each running bus services to and from the city centre.

Special Park and Ride services are also organised by the Council for large events held at the Principality Stadium.

  • Operating every 15 minutes
  • Journey around 20 minutes to city centre
  • Site closes 15 minutes after last bus returns
  • Attendant-controlled car park with CCTV coverage

How to find us

  • From the East, come off at junction 29 of the M4, take second exit and follow signs for Park and Ride car park.​​
  • From the West, come off at junction 30 of the M4, take third exit on the first roundabout and then the second exit on the next. At the next roundabout take the second exit on to the A48 heading towards the city centre. Take the first exit on the A48 and follow signs to the car park.​

Additional information

The site is open from 6:45am Monday to Friday and 7:30am on a Saturday. It closes soon after the last bus has arrived, once all passengers have left. 

  • There are no vehicle ​height restrictions at the site. 
  • There are disabled toilet facilities available.
  • The car park is staffed by at least one attendant. ​​​
  • The site has CCTV but vehicles are parked at the owners’ risk. 
  • You are able to leave your car or motor-home overnight but only for one night when the site is locked. You will need to pay for another ticket as your initial ticket will be out of date.  You are not permitted to sleep overnight in the vehicle.

The service will operate to and from the city centre from a revised stop at the Cardiff City Stadium. This will be near to the south of the stadium, accessed via Clos Parc Morgannwg off Sloper Road. This is the only access point for the service and is opposite to the usual Leckwith Road entrance. 

The main site will still be used for alternative purposes at this time.

    From junction 33 of the M4 take the A4232 for the city centre and follow the Park and Ride signs.​​

    Additional information

    The site is open from 8:30am Monday to Friday and closes 6:30pm.

    • There are no vehicle ​height restrictions at the site. 
    • There are no toilet facilities available.
    • The car park is not staffed. ​​​
    • You are not allowed to park overnight in the car park.

    Cost

    £3 per car. 

    Bus

    Buses every 15 minutes.​
    Open 10am-6pm (First bus at 10am from Hemingway Road to Canal Street, last bus from Canal Street at 6pm to Hemingway Road).

    ​Park and Stride County Hall Car Park is also available weekdays as a park and stride car park.
    No charge for parking weekdays. The No6 Baycar Bus Service to town is available. Normal bus fares payable on the bus.

    Stops

    Buses operate from the County Hall to Canal Street (rear of Central Library and next to John Lewis), and will take you into the heart of the city centre.

    How to find us

    • From the East, come off at junction 29 of the M4 and follow signs for Park and Ride to Cardiff Bay.
    • From the West, come off at junction 33 of the M4 and follow the A4232 to Cardiff Bay. Take a left as you come out under the Butetown Tunnel and another immediate left before turning right into County Hall.
