We are proposing a new parking zone and would like to hear your views.
Parking zones help to:
- Prioritise parking space for residents and their visitors.
- Support businesses by making sure there is a turnover of vehicles.
- Make it easier for shoppers and visitors to find convenient parking.
- Stop commuter and inconsiderate parking.

Why we are proposing the changes
We know people are finding it difficult to find suitable parking due to high demand in these areas. Parking zones have helped to reduce these problems in other parts of the city.
Find out how we design parking zones.
When the zone would operate
We propose the restrictions would apply between:
- 8am to 6.30pm
- 8am to 8pm, or
- 8am to 10pm.
And would run from:
- Monday to Saturday, or
- Monday to Sunday
Restrictions would apply all day, every day to:
- permit parking,
- limited waiting bays,
- pay and stay bays, and
- single yellow lines.
Double yellow lines and blue badge bays would also apply all day, every day.

- Berthwin Street
- Cathedral Road (between is junction with Pontcanna Street and Cowbridge Road East)
- Dogo Street
- Dyfrig Street
- Hamilton Street
- Kings Road
- Kyveilog Street

Types of permits
We will issue permits to:
- Residents
- Businesses
- Community premises
You can apply for a maximum of 2 permits per property.
Residents would also be able to apply for permits for visitors.
Carers, contractors and teachers would be able to apply for permit while working in the zone.
Find out more about the types of permits we issue.
We will not issue permits to:
- businesses with off-street parking
- staff or commuter parking
- student halls of residence
- temporary accommodation (such as short lets or holiday lets)
- properties on private roads
- developments with off-street car parks (even if there is not enough parking for all the properties in the development)
- heavy vehicles (over 3.5 tonnes)
Parking with a permit
Drivers with permits would be able to park in:
- permit holder only bays
- shared use limited waiting bays, for as long as needed
- shared use pay and stay bays, without the need for a ticket and for as long as needed.
Permit holders would be able to park in any eligible permit parking bay within the zone.

Parking without a permit
Drivers without a permit would be able to park in pay and stay bays for up to 4 hours with a ticket.
These bays would be available throughout the zone for visitors and shoppers to use.
Commuters would be encouraged to find alternative travel options.
Cost
On-street pay and stay parking would cost £2 per hour. The first 30 minutes of parking in pay and stay bays would be free of charge. You will still need to get a ticket.
Permit costs would be the same as those already in place across the city. Find out more about permits.
Business permit costs depend on the emissions of your vehicle. Find out more about business permits.
Blue badge holder parking arrangements would stay the same. Find out more about blue badge parking.
