​​If you are a member of Cardiff Libraries you can borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines 24 hours a day, and access a range of other electronic resources from home and within the Hubs and Libraries.

RBdigital is a Cardiff libraries provision where you can download 10 eBooks and 10 eAudiobooks for free on your personal devices for 21 days.

BorrowBox offers you 10 eBook and 10 eAudiobook downloads for free on your personal devices for 21 days.

The first time you use the services, you will be prompted to download and install Adobe Digital Editions​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window if this software is not already on your PC or Mac. ​​​Adobe Digital Editions software offers an easy and engaging way to view and manage your eBooks, including transferring them to portable devices.



eBooks and eAudiobooks are available to use on your portable device, tablet or phone using the BorrowBox app which can be downloaded from the Apple App store​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window​​ or Google Play store​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window

Alternatively, you can download BorrowBox​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window​​​​​​​​​​ ​​directly to your PC or Laptop and eBooks/eAudiobooks can be transferred to an MP3 player or eReader.
You can view what eAudiobooks are available prior to signing in, although you will need to sign in using your library card number and PIN (if you do not know your PIN, contact your local library​).



To use the magazine service you will need to create a login online through the RBdigital website​​​ 
When using the RBdigital app for magazines simply login again using your email and choose Wales as your location. This will allow you to borrow magazines for free.

To switch between eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines simply switch profiles in the RBdigital app for easy access to both.



Comics Plus 

Comic Plus ​Library Edition offer access to over 16,000 comics​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window for free online and through the Comics Plus  Library Edition app, as part of an all Wales service.

To use the service you will need to create a login online through the Comics Plus website​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window​​ and choose Wales as the location.
Once registered, you can read the comics on your own device.

eReference materials available include:

  • Encyclopaedia Britanica
  • Historical newspapers via Gale Primary Resources and British Newspaper Archive
  • The Times Digital Newspaper Archive
  • Oxford Dictionaries, Music and Art references
  • – Library Edition (temporarily available from home)

If you are accessing these from home or using your own computer you may need to log in to via the catalogue using your Library Card number and PIN. 

If you are accessing these from a Cardiff Public Library you will have immediate access to all these services.
