Gypsy and Traveller sites

We manage two residential sites for Gypsies and Travellers in Cardiff, Rover Way and Shirenewton. Together the sites have over 80 pitches.

Each pitch has its own boundary wall, farm-style gate and a utility building housing a kitchen and bathroom. Electricity is provided via pre-payment meters at both sites, and at Shirenewton water and sewerage connections are provided for principal mobile homes.

Both sites have an onsite housing office where residents can make contact with housing management and site maintenance staff. Community facilities exist on both sites.

To find out more about the site and applying for a pitch, please visit the Cardiff HousingExternal link opens in a new window website.

In relation to future demand, the Council have undertaken a Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment in accordance with Section 102 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 which has been approved by the Welsh Government. Work is now underway to meet the identified needs.
