Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof

On 18 December 2025 Cardiff Council's Cabinet agreed proposals to:

Extend the age range of Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof from 4 to 11 to 3 to 11 by establishing a Welsh-medium nursery unit as part of the school.

The change is proposed to take effect from September 2026

Statutory notice

A report on the consultation to establish nursery provision at Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof was considered by the Council Cabinet on 18 September 2025.

The report informed Cabinet of the responses received during the consultation, the issues raised, the Council's response to these and recommendations on the way forward.

Following consideration of the outcome of the consultation, the Cabinet authorised officers to publish a statutory notice to extend the age range of Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof from 4 to 11, to 3 to 11 by establishing a Welsh-medium nursery unit as part of the school.

The proposed change would take effect from September 2026.

The notice is live from 30 September 2025 and allows a period of 28 days for formal objections to the proposals, up to and including 27 October 2025.

Consultation report

A report on the consultation to establish a Welsh-medium nursery unit at Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof from September 2026 will be considered by the Council's Cabinet at its meeting on 18 September 2025.

The report informs Cabinet of the responses received during the consultation, the issues raised, the Council's response to the issues raised, and recommendations on the way forward.

In the report, Cabinet is recommended to authorise officers to publish a statutory notice to extend the age range of Ysgol Gymraeg Coed-Y-Gof from 4 to 11 to 3 to 11 by establishing a nursery unit as part of the school from September 2026.
