A private hire vehicle:
- cannot be flagged down, and
- must be pre-booked through a licensed private hire operator.
Private hire vehicles licensed by Cardiff are saloon or MPV style vehicles in any colour (other than black with a white bonnet). These vehicles should have a yellow plate on the rear that contains the licence number.
Fares
Individual companies set private hire fares.
They do not have to use a meter or the tariff of fares set by the Council.
Customers can negotiate a fare.
Please note: Private hire companies can refuse to take a booking.
