Making representations

The responsible authorities and local residents have a right to make representations on a gambling licence application and have their views taken into account by the licensing authority provided the views expressed are relevant to the licensing objectives.

The licensing objectives are:

  • to prevent gambling from being a source of crime and disorder, being associated with crime or disorder or being used to support crime
  • to ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way
  • to protect children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling

Representations must be received within 28 days of the application being made. Once received the Licensing Authority will arrange for the application to be considered by a Licensing Sub-Committee and you will be advised and given the opportunity to make representations on the application in person.
