Website upgrade on Tuesday 23 June

What we are doing to upgrade our website to improve accessibility and security for customers.

Requesting CCTV footage

You can make a request for CCTV for a variety of reasons. You have the right to ask for footage:

  • of yourself,
  • on behalf of someone else, or
  • for legal proceedings.

This can be done by:

  • a member of the public,
  • the police, or
  • a company representing a member of the public. For example, insurance companies or solicitors.

How long we keep CCTV footage

We do not keep footage for longer than 31 days. The footage is automatically deleted once the 31 days have passed, unless we have received a formal request for the footage, or it is relevant to an ongoing investigation.

We do not own all CCTV cameras in Cardiff. We may not always have access to the footage.

Information you need to provide

We will not search for the footage unless the relevant documents have been provided. If you are asking for footage on behalf of someone else or for legal proceedings, you must have consent from and proof of identification from the person (the data subject).

You will also need to provide as much information as possible, such as:

  • the specific time and date,
  • the location, and
  • a description of yourself and what happened.

Requesting footage

There may be circumstances where we cannot give you the footage. For example, if other individuals are identifiable in the footage.

You can ask for CCTV footage by:

  • completing the request form,
  • emailing us,
  • calling us, or
  • visiting your local Hub.
