School Streets have been introduced to replace the staffed road closures at:
- Rhiwbeina Primary on Lon-y-Dail and Lon Ucha and
- Ysgol Coed y Gof on Lime Grove and Bramble Close.
School Streets are areas around school entrances that are pedestrianised during peak drop-off and pick-up times to:
- help children access the school safely,
- promote active travel and
- reduce air pollution.
Enforcement cameras are used to monitor the school streets. Residents, Blue Badge holders and carers are allowed access during restricted times.
You can apply for a permit via the
MiPermit website or app.
There are now 16 School Streets in Cardiff.
The Rhiwbeina Primary and Ysgol Coed y Gof School Streets have been introduced using a legal process called an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order which lasts for 18 months. Before the end of the Experimental Traffic Regulation Order, a decision will be made on whether to make the School Street permanent, through a Traffic Regulation Order.
