On 14 July 2022 Cardiff Council Cabinet agreed to:
- Increase the capacity of Pentyrch Primary School from 140 to 210 places
- Extend the age range of the school from 4 to 11, to 3 to 11 by establishing nursery provision at the school to allow for 32 part-time places

A report was considered by Cardiff Council's Cabinet on 10 March 2022 which set out recommendations following a public consultation that took place earlier in the year on proposals regarding the expansion of Pentyrch Primary School and the establishment of nursery provision at the school.

The Cabinet agreed for the Council to progress to the next stage and issue a legal Statutory Notice to:

The statutory notice was live from 6 May 2022 and allowed a period of 28 days for formal objections to the proposals up to and including 2 June 2022.
Objections were able to be sent to the Director of Education and Lifelong Learning, Cardiff Council, County Hall, Atlantic Wharf, Cardiff CF10 4UW.
