Employee Networks

​​Cardiff Council has a number of employee groups as a way of supporting employees and enabling them to improve the way Cardiff Council works as an employer.

 

The four employee networks all make a positive contribution to the culture of Cardiff Council, while also letting employees know that there is support and help available should they need to access it.

Black and minority ethnic network

 

The BME network is a welcoming and supportive culturally diverse group, campaigning to improve the visibility of Black and Minority Ethnic Employees.

The purpose of the BME Network:

  • To provide information, advice and support to BME employees working within Cardiff Council
  • To act as an advisory body and consultative forum to theCouncil on issues of race equality and anti- discriminatory procedures, policies and practice
  • To offer a safe space for discussion on issues relating to working within the Council as a BME person

 

Disability network

 

The Disability Network connects disabled employees in an informal and supportive setting.

The Purpose of the DisAbility Network:

  • To provide a safe place for discussions on working within the Council as a disabled person
  • To educate and raise awareness of other employees on issues for disabled employees
  • To act as an advisory body and support the Council in its duties within the Equality Act 2010 to promote equality, eliminate bias and discrimination, and promote best practice as a Disability Confident Employer.

 

LGBT network

 

The LGBT Network offers a friendly and confidential space for employees who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender to meet and talk about issues that affect us.

The purpose of the LGBT+ Network is to provide:

  • A safe space for discussion on issues relating to working within the Council as an LGBT identified person
  • Ways to proactively contribute and feedback on corporate initiatives and policies

 

Women's network

 

The Women'​s Network is a dynamic group that supports the progression of women in Cardiff Council.


The purpose of the Women’s Network is to:

  • Promote equality of women
  • Empower women and build confidence
  • Promote visibility of inspirational role models
  • Support women to fulfil their potential through connecting, learning and sharing with others
  • Provide opportunities for internal and external networking



Carers Network

The Carers Network provides a supportive forum for employees who are Carers, with members making a positive contribution to the policies, procedures and culture of the Council.​

The purpose of the Carers Network:

  • To provide information, advice and support to employees with caring responsibilities working within Cardiff Council
  • To offer a safe space for discussion on issues relating to carers working within the Council
  • Raise awareness on carer related matters


These networks make a vital contribution to promoting equality and diversity in the workplace, ensuring all employees are treated with dignity and respect.
