Personal Learning Accounts

A Personal Learning Account (PLA) is a programme funded by Welsh Government. If you are eligible, PLAs provide access to free courses and professional qualifications which develop your skills and can help you to progress or change your career.

Cardiff City Foundation is the registered charity of Cardiff City Football Club.

They run post-16 education courses that combine educational studies with sport in a unique environment, supporting young people to progress into further education, employment and training.

BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport

Students can complete a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport, which is an academic equivalent to 4 GCSE’s. The course offers fantastic progression opportunities for learners want to study a BTEC Level 3, as well as providing the knowledge and skills needed for employment or apprenticeships.

Students will gain the knowledge required for a substantial understanding of the principles of sport. Lesson modules include anatomy, physiology, sports psychology, sports coaching and sports research.


BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Performance and Excellence

Students can complete a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport Performance and Excellence, which is an academic equivalent to 3 A Levels. There course allows students to further their love of sport and passion for learning. 

Theoretical lessons cover a wide range of subjects. Units include Anatomy and Physiology, Coaching for Performance and Fitness Testing.
