The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a leading achievement award for young people. Its balanced programme of activities develops the mind, body and soul in an environment of social interaction and team working. It encourages young people to live life as an adventure.
The scheme consists of three separate Awards: Bronze, Silver and Gold. To gain each Award participants must complete four different sections (five at Gold) as follows:
- Volunteering,
- Expedition,
- Skills,
- Physical,
- Residential (Gold only).
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Cardiff currently has over 50 centres across the county operating a range of evening/day sessions. The majority of the centres are school and youth centres but a growing number of specialist centres are being developed.
Facilities
- A well-equipped Expedition Store – providing camping equipment such as tents, trangias (cooking equipment), rucksacks and waterproofs.
- Use of a mini-bus for individual unit groups.
