If you asked for your offer to be sent by post you will receive a letter to the address you specified on application.






You will receive one of the following offers:​​





A place at your first preference school
You will need to accept this offer by the deadline. We do not assume automatic acceptance.

A place at a lower preference school
This happens when your first preference does not have enough places available. 
Even if you are not sure about the lower preference offered, we strongly encourage you to accept this by the deadline and stay on the waiting list for your higher preference school.
You still retain your right to appeal even if you accept a lower offer.

N​o offer​
This happens when all of your preferences do not have enough places available for us to offer in line with your request.
There are still alternative places available in Cardiff schools for your child.

If you have applied late or you have asked for communication by post you will receive one of the following offer letters:

You must respond by Monday 13th May 2019.

You have three options:
​​​​​​​
​​1. Accept or decline online by logging in to the Schools Application system.
2. Email us to let us know your decision receptionallocations@cardiff.gov.uk
3. Complete the slip at the bottom of your offer letter and take to your local Advice Hub.

If we have not received your response by May 13th 2019 we will assume that you no longer want the place and it may be withdrawn and offered to another child.

One you have accepted the offer the offer the school will contact you with details of the admissions arrangements.

If you have a change in circumstances prior to September 2019 (e.g. you have moved address), you must inform the School Admissions team. 
We strongly recommend that you accept the place you are offered.

If this is not your preferred choice, you will remain on the waiting list for your preferred school and you can submit alternative preferences for other schools.

If you accept a lower preference you have the right to appeal the Council's decision.

Meanwhile, your child's name will remain on the waiting list. We will let you know if a place becomes available.
You will need to submit a late application and provide us with alternate preferences.

Application forms are also available through all local Advice Hubs.

We must receive your application by 13th May 2019

Your child will be placed on the waiting list for the schools you have stated a preference for unless you advise otherwise. If your child qualifies for a place at your preferred school at a later date we will contact you.

Please note that places are allocated based on the published admissions criteria​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window , not on how long your child has waited for a place.

We still have places available for your child at a Cardiff school in both Welsh-medium and English medium. We strongly advise you apply for an alternative school with places available.

If we have refused your application you will have been provided with a list of schools with places available. Applying will not affect your place on the waiting list for your preferred school and it will not affect your right to appeal.

If you missed the application deadline or you did not receive a school offer, you must submit a late application from.

You should still apply, but late applications are considered after on-time offers.

These are called the later application rounds.

We will publish results of the second round applications in May and all applications will be processed monthly after this.
