The Welsh Assembly Government has formally agreed to a proposal to establish a Centre for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder on the site of Bishop of Llandaff High School. The Governing Body of the Bishop of Llandaff High School published a statutory notice on the proposal in November 2009, following a public consultation.

The final decision was passed to the Minister for Children, Education and Lifelong Learning, Leighton Andrews AM, following objections received to the statutory notice detailing the proposed changes.

The Proposal approved:

  • To make a prescribed alteration to Bishop of Llandaff Church In Wales High School by establishing an Autism Centre on the school site in new build accommodation
  • It is intended that the proposal will be implemented from September 2011
  • It is proposed that the Autism Centre will admit pupils of both sexes, aged mainly 11-19 years
