Recycle your coffee pods with Podback

We will not be collecting pods on 27, 28, and 29 December.

We are working with Podback to provide a free recycling service to recycle your coffee, tea, and hot chocolate pods at home.

Podback bags must not be put out for collection with your normal household waste.

You will receive a collection date once your booking request has been received.

Sign up to Podback

Sign up and order your free recycling bags from Podback. Follow the online instructions to create your personal Podback account.

Podback will send you two rolls of bags for recycling your aluminium or plastic coffee pods along with instructions.

When you need to top up your supply of recycling bags you can log into your Podback account and reorder.

Sign up to Podback.

Ask us to collect your pods

Podback will send you the bags. Please fill them as instructed.

You will need to let us know every time you want a pod collection.

What to do on your collection date

We will contact you with a collection date. Please put your bags on the pavement by 7am on that date.

There will be information about reporting missed collections on the email.

We will only collect coffee pods which are in the Podback recycling bags. Please do not use any other type of bag.

Types of coffee pods you can recycle

You can recycle plastic and aluminium pods for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and milk.

When you sign up on the Podback website you will be asked what brand of pods you use so you get the correct bag. If you use aluminium pods, you will be sent white bags. If you use plastic pods, you will be sent green bags.

The two materials need to be collected separately as they are sent to different recycling facilities.

What to do if you live in a flat

If you live in a flat or communal property you can use the drop off service, which allows you to drop off filled bags through the Yodel network.

How the pods are recycled

The coffee pods you recycle with Podback are taken to specialist aluminium and plastics reprocessing plants in the UK.

The coffee grounds are removed, and the plastic and aluminium are then transformed into new products, including drink cans, car components or plastic garden furniture and building products.

The coffee grounds are used to create soil improver and renewable energy (biogas).
