Hygiene Collections

The hygiene collection is an optional service for people who need to dispose of a high volume of nappies or incontinence pads.


If you register for the service you will use yellow hygiene bags on alternate weeks to your general waste collection to dispose of nappies and incontinence pads.

This service is not available in blocks of flats.​

​What goes in your hygiene collection?

    We collect

  • Nappies
  • Associated nappy changing rubbish, such as cotton wool, wet wipes, nappy sacks
  • Incontinence pads

    We do not collect

  • Catheters
  • Stoma / Colostomy bags*
  • Plasters and bandages
  • Needles*
  • Sanitary waste
  • Vomit
  • Animal faeces
  •

    Clinical and medical items

    To dispose of your colostomy or stoma bags and catheters safely and hygienically, please empty the contents of the bag into your toilet, wrap the bag and place in your general household waste for collection.


    Needles or syringes

    You will need to arrange a sharps collection with your local health board. Cardiff Council does not collect needles or syringes.

Apply for hygiene collection

To apply for a hygiene collection please complete the online application form or call C2C on 029 2087 2087.

Once your application has been processed your hygiene bags will be delivered within 7 to 10 working days
.

Putting your hygiene waste out for collection

Put your yellow hygiene bags on the kerb for collection. Or we can arrange with you to collect from a discreet location. Check your collection day.

If you miss your hygiene collection 4 times in a row, we will remove your property from the service. Should you need hygiene collections in future you will need to re-register for the service.
