Bulky items

​If you or anyone else in your household is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 such as a new persistent cough, a high temperature or loss of taste or smell​, please do not make a booking for a bulky item collection.

ulky item is a large, awkward household item that will not fit in the boot of a car and cannot be carried safely by one person.  

When you arrange a bulky item collection please make sure that:

  • ​All items are placed on the kerbside for collection. We are unable to offer assisted collections at this time.
  • You disinfect items where possible.
  • You only book a bulky item collection if absolutely necessary.

This service is free for items that can be fully recycled.

    Examples of items we collect for free

    ​​We do not charge to collect items that are fully recyclable.

  • Wooden dining table or bookshelf
  • Metal bed frame or shelving unit
  • Large electrical appliances such as a fridge or washing machine
  • Carpet
  • UPVC windows and frames
  • Spring mattresses (there is a charge for memory foam)

    Examples of items you must pay for

    We charge to collect items made from a mixture of different materials.

  • Sofas and armchairs
  • Divan bed bases
  • Memory foam mattresses (spring mattresses are free)
  • Furniture made from a mixture of materials such as a wooden cabinet with glass doors.

    Items we do not collect.

    We are unable to collect some items, these include:

  • Asbestos
  • Fibreglass
  • Building materials and building waste, such as plasterboard or insulation material
  • Car or engine parts
  • Cast iron items
  • Chemicals, such as paint stripper
  • Fluorescent tubes 
  • Gas bottles or canisters
  • Oil (engine or cooking)
  • Tins of paint
  • Tyres
  • Pianos
  • Garden waste

Book a bulky item collection

Charges for items that cannot be recycled.

​5 to 6 items ​£37.50​​

For a collection you have to pay for, the minimum cost is £12.50.

You can book a maximum of 6 items. There are no discounts.


Bulky Item Collections Terms and Conditions

  • Do not make a booking if you or anyone else in your household is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 such as a new persistent cough, a high temperature or loss of taste or smell​.​
  • Once the booking has been finalised, no additional items can be added to your booking.
  • If your item is not as you have described it when you booked a free collection, the item will not be collected and the chargeable collection service will apply.
  • If you choose to use an alternative collection company, make sure they are a registered waste carrier and have legal ways of disposing of your waste. Find out about householder duty of care​​​​​​External link opens in a new window ​​.
  • ​If you want to cancel or amend your booking, you will need to contact C2C on 029 2087 2087.
  • Bookings may be cancelled up to 3 full working days before the collection takes place.
  • If you do not cancel within 3 working days of the first collection date, you will not be granted a refund. You will be given the opportunity to select a later collection day or swap like for like items, i.e. recyclable item for recyclable item.
  • If you, or anyone in your households develops symptoms of COVID-19 before your collection takes place, please contact us so we can talk through your options.

Your items may not be collected if they are not:

  • as described at the time of booking.
  • put out in the way you agreed at the time of booking (e.g. dismantled).

If your item is not collected for one of these reasons you will be responsible for removing the waste from the highway. Failure to do so may result in enforcement action being taken.
