Nant Y Wedal Parking Proposals

We proposed new parking restrictions on Nant y Wedal and Wedal Road.

These proposals were to introduce:

  • a Resident Permit Parking Area on Nant Y Wedal,
  • pay and stay parking along Wedal Road, and
  • yellow lines to prevent obstructive parking on corners.

This would help to:

  • protect space for residents and their visitors,
  • prevent obstructive parking,
  • deter commuters, and
  • encourage walking, cycling and use of public transport.

A Permit Parking Area is an area where there are no parking bays painted on the road but any vehicle parking in the area will need a valid permit.

Drivers are made aware they are entering a Permit Parking Area by signs at the entrance.

Properties would be entitled to up to two permits per household for vehicles owned by residents and a visitor permit allowance. Vehicles parked on private driveways will not need a permit.

Pay and stay parking on Wedal Road would apply Monday to Friday. Permit holders would be allowed to park for free in the pay and stay parking bays on Wedal Road.

Feedback

This consultation closed on 21 July 2023.

61% of respondents were in favour of the proposals.

Following this feedback, we have decided to proceed with the scheme and start the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)  process.

The making of a TRO can take between 6 to 9 months to complete.

At a point in this process, you will be able to view detailed parking designs and formally object to the scheme if you wish.
