Cathays Regeneration Project

The City of Cardiff Council, South Wales Police and their partners are looking to develop a number of green spaces in Cathays and improve the local area to enhance facilities for residents.

We have undertaken research to identify residents' needs. Based on this initial feedback, we have developed a number of design options for green spaces in the area.

We consulted on these designs between 23rd February and 23rd March by asking local residents for their views and preferred design options.

The consultation period has now closed and we have created final designs based on the feedback collected.

Project Update June 2017
“Project funding for the Ruthin Gardens site has been provided by Community Funding Resources Ltd and enabled by Cardiff City Council, through the Landfill Communities Fund scheme. Community Funding Resources Ltd (a company limited by guarantee) is a registered environmental body and as such it is authorised (by the regulatory body, Entrust) to receive contributions from Landfill Operators and spend the funds on projects, in the vicinity of a landfill site, that protect the built, social and natural environment.

The contract for Ruthin Gardens has been awarded to Horan Construction Ltd and work is due to begin towards the end of June 2017 / early July 2017. Letters are being distributed to residents living in the vicinity of Ruthin Gardens advising them of the works.

The work will include a new circular bench, new paving and bollards, access improvements, an information board and areas of wildflower planting to improve the environment and discourage illegal parking.

Funding is actively been sought to complete the proposed improvements to Llanbleddian Gardens and Cogan Gardens.”
