If you are suffering from domestic abuse

We can help you find somewhere safe to stay as well as helping you plan for the long term. 

If you are suffering, or are in fear of domestic abuse we can help you to make a homelessness application, and provide you with specialist support.

The abuse may include, but is not limited to:

  • Sexual
  • Financial
  • Emotional

RISE Cardiff provide specialist domestic abuse help and can assist you to make a homeless application.

The officer you speak to will ask you some questions about your situation and give you advice. If necessary, we will try to help find you somewhere safe to live in the short term.

You may be asked for supporting evidence, which could include details and dates of incidents, but you will not be turned away if you do not have this information.

We will look at each case carefully. 

Please call the police on 999 if you, or someone you know, faces a serious and current or imminent risk to their personal safety.

Leaving home immediately


If you think you are in immediate danger, always dial 999 and ask for the police.











If you need to leave your home to stay safe, try to talk to RISE Cardiff​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​External link opens in a new window, a homeless officer or a tenancy officer (if you are a current tenant with Cardiff Council or a Housing Association) before you leave.

Take some essentials with you such as a change of clothes, toiletries and any medication you need to take regularly. If you can find a safe way, try to take with you important items such as your passport, bank and credit cards and mobile phone.

Don’t make a decision to give up your legal rights to your home permanently until you have spoken with an advisor and considered all of your options.
