Winter Fuel Support Scheme

Applications for the Winter Support Fuel Scheme have now closed.

​​Welsh Government has announced the Winter Fuel Support Scheme Payment has been doubled to £200 per eligible household to put towards their on-grid fuel bills from 13th December 2021. This will be available to new applicants and retrospectively paid to those who have applied already.

If you have already received a £100 payment, you do not need to do anything, you will automatically receive a further £100 by the end of March.

The Welsh Government scheme is open to households where one working age person is in receipt of means-t​ested welfare benefits any time between 1 December 2021 and 31 January 2022.
 
To be classed as an eligible household you must be responsible for paying the fuel bills at your primary property. 

The payment will be available to all eligible households regardless of whether you pay for your fuel on a pre-payment meter, by direct debit or by quarterly bill. However households who pay for their fuel off-grid will not be eligible.​

  • You are responsible for paying the fuel bills at your property.
  • You have not received a payment under the scheme before.
  • You are in receipt of a qualifying working age means-tested welfare benefit at any time between 1 December 2021 and 31 January 2022.

Eligible benefits are:

  • Income Support,
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, or
  • Income Based Employment and Support Allowance, or
  • Universal Credit, or
  • Working Tax Credits.
  • You, your partner, or both of you are responsible for paying the fuel bills at your property.
  • You or your partner have not received a payment under the scheme before.
  • You, your partner, or both of you are in receipt of a qualifying working age means-tested welfare benefit at any time between 1 December 2021 and 31 January 2022.

Eligible benefits are:

  • Income Support,
  • Income Based Job Seekers Allowance, or
  • Income Based Employment and Support Allowance, or
  • Universal Credit, or
  • Working Tax Credits.​​​
