This section provides an overview of the grant schemes currently administered by the City of Cardiff Council that are available to Third Sector organisations, including community groups and voluntary organisations.

GRANTnet

We provide access to GrantNet, a straightforward free service that can help small businesses, charitable and community groups to find suitable funding.

It allows community and voluntary groups, sports and other clubs, schools, social enterprises and small businesses to search across EC and UK sources including Government departments, local authorities, charitable trusts and corporate sponsors.

Welsh Church Act Fund

The Welsh Church Act Fund is a charitable trust that is independent of the Council. Its purpose is to provide grants to support the charitable activities of local organisations which benefit local people and communities. In recent years the fund has focused on the restoration or maintenance of public places of worship.

Applications to the fund are accepted throughout the year subject to budget availability. The trustees meet to assess applications as and when it is required, with grants being made yearly on a one-off basis.

There is no stipulated maximum or minimum level of grant awarded, but awards are usually in the region of £1,500.

The fund is administered by the Vale of Glamorgan Council, but Cardiff-based applicants need the support of the City of Cardiff Council to be put forward.  For further details on the fund and the eligibility criteria please contact us.
