As a local authority we can issue Dog Control Orders in Cardiff. DCOs are issued to enforce responsible dog ownership.
This means that in public areas with DCOs, you may have to:
- keep the dog on a lead
- put the dog on a lead if told to by a police officer, police community support officer or an environmental health officer
- stop the dog going in certain places - like farmland or parts of a park
- limit the number of dogs you have with you (this applies to professional dog walkers too)
- clear up after the dog
You can find out more about controlling your dog Link opens in a new window on the central government website.
