You can book your place here. The delegate fee for attendance at the conference will be £75.00 per person.

Conference Workshops


In order to attend the workshops at this year’s event, all delegates will need to indicate their preferred workshop choices in advance.  


Two workshop sessions will be held 12.00pm-1.00pm and 2.00pm-3.00pm and will each contain six workshops.

 

Workshops – Session One

12.00pm to 1.00pm

Social Media – Staying out of Trouble
Workshop led by Daniel Hurford WLGA and a Monitoring Officer exploring best practice, latest cases and case law.

Whistle Blowing – Adapting to deal with new operating models for public services
Workshop led by a Monitoring Officer reviewing bests practice, role of  standards and ethics committee in reviewing cases and communication approaches.

Community Councils – Governance and Standards Workshop led by One Voice Wales and a Monitoring Officer looking at proposed new WG tests  of competency; democracy, capability, capacity and Governance.

Local Complaints Resolution – Practicalities Workshop to look at Hearing panel process, role play session and dealing with media  led by a Monitoring Officer.

5.

Are the Nolan Principles fit for purpose in the current climate and for the next 20 years?
Workshop to continue the Panel Discussion led by a Monitoring Officer.

6.

Probity in Planning - Update
Workshop to review current status of Planning Protocol required under Planning Act led by a Monitoring Officer.

Mansion House evening reception - Monday 19th October 2015


The Deputy Lord Mayor of Cardiff, Councillor Dilwar Ali will be hosting a pre-conference reception at the Mansion House on the evening of Monday 19 October 2015 from 6.30pm.  To book spaces for this evening reception, please indicate how many delegates wish to attend from your party on the booking form.  This event shall be offered free of charge.


Places are limited and will be available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.


Accommodation Bookings


Cardiff offers a wide range of city centre hotels within walking distance of City Hall, all of which offer suitable rates for all budgets.  Delegates are advised to book their accommodation via Cardiff Conference Bureau quoting ‘Standards Conference Wales’.
