Fostering is one of many services provided by Cardiff to support families who are in crisis. Where possible we try to keep families together. However, sometimes children and young people need to be cared for outside of their families, either through the Courts on a Care Order, or accommodated with their parents' consent.
Foster care means looking after someone else's child in your home and working closely with their family. This is a difficult and demanding job, which requires an ever-increasing level of skill and responsibility.
The Fostering Service aims to provide stability and permanence in the lives of the children and young people who are placed with the Foster Carers. The aim of the fostering service is to ensure that each child placed in our care has a positive and rewarding future to look forward to. Through such stability the Foster Carers can play their part in developing the child's identity, ensuring their educational needs are met, promoting their health and well-being and realising their full potential.
The Fostering Service is based at the Trowbridge Centre, Greenway Road, Trowbridge, Cardiff. CF3 1QS
