Graffiti has been identified as one of the key environmental issues across the city due to the adverse effects it can have on areas: It can be unsightly and may also contribute to the decline of an area, which in turn undermines community cohesion and the efforts of public agencies - it can be defined as unauthorised writing, drawing or scratches that are scribed, painted or engraved upon walls and other surfaces.
Graffiti is a crime and is punishable under various legislations.
Cardiff Council and Keep Cardiff Tidy work in partnership to combat the unsightly cost and damage to property.
In order to do this they offer a free removal service for both commercial and private property, a one day response time for obscene and threatening graffiti. Members of the public can report offences by ringing C2C on 029 2087 2087 and e mail requests and also send any pictures by following this link graffiti@cardiff.gov.uk
We constantly engage with local communities to provide education and explore preventative measures where appropriate.
