Visiting County Hall

​​County Hall is the main headquarters of Cardiff Council. ​

Visits to County Hall are by appointment only. However, you do not need to make an appointment if you are:

  • attending a Public Meeting,
  • delivering a petition to the council, or
  • viewing a council document.

Voters

You do not need to make an appointment to visit if you are:

  • registering to vote,
  • applying for an absent vote, 
  • applying for a Voter Authority Certificate,
  • handing in a completed application,
  • handing in a postal ballot pack,
  • collecting a temporary Voter Authority Certificate, or
  • collecting a postal ballot pack which is re-issued on poll day.


You do not need an appointment, but we recommend that you phone Electoral Services before your visit.

Candidates and agents


You do not need to make an appointment to visit if you are:

  • requesting an informal check of nomination papers
  • handing in a completed nomination form or any supporting documents,
  • attending a briefing session by the Returning Officer, or
  • observing the opening of postal votes.

In the interests of sustainable travel, we encourage visitors to use public transport. 

If travelling by car, you will be able to use the pay and display on-road parking nearby, or the car park at the Red Dragon Centre.
The nearest bus stop is immediately outside the main entrance and the nearest train station is Cardiff Bay station on Lloyd George Avenue.
